Enjoy the perfect blend of flavors with these homemade turkey and scallion dumplings, reminiscent of your preferred take-out appetizer. This simple recipe uses leftover turkey, combining it with ginger, tamari, and sesame oil to create a delicious filling.
Ingredients:
– 1 cup finely chopped cooked turkey meat
– 4 scallions, thinly sliced
– 1 clove garlic, grated
– 1 tablespoon tamari
– ½ teaspoon toasted sesame oil
– ½ teaspoon unseasoned rice vinegar
– ½ teaspoon grated ginger (from 1-inch knob)
– ⅛ teaspoon red pepper flakes
– 18 wonton wrappers
For the dipping sauce:
– 3 tablespoons tamari
– 1 scallion, sliced
– 1 teaspoon unseasoned rice vinegar
– 1 teaspoon honey
– ½ teaspoon grated ginger
Instructions:
1. Mix turkey, scallions, garlic, tamari, sesame oil, rice vinegar, ginger, and red pepper flakes in a large bowl until well combined. Keep the wonton wrappers covered with a damp towel to prevent drying.
2. Moisten the edges of a wonton wrapper with water, add a small amount of turkey filling to the center, fold into a triangle, bringing the corners together to seal. Repeat with remaining wrappers and filling, keeping completed dumplings covered to retain moisture.
3. Boil a large saucepan of salted water. Simmer and cook dumplings in two batches, letting them cook until they float (about 2 minutes). Remove with a slotted spoon to drain on a paper towel.
4. Make the dipping sauce by whisking together tamari, scallion, vinegar, honey, and ginger. Serve alongside the dumplings.
