Behr Predicts Top 2025 Exterior Paint Colors

Behr has announced their 2025 exterior color trends, shifting away from stark grays and beiges towards warm, natural hues. The highlight is Cedar, named as the Exterior Stain Color of the Year, known for its earthy and versatile charm inspired by cedarwood. This introduction accompanies Behr’s second annual Curb Appeal Collection, which simplifies color selection with 45 hues across four themes: American casual, craftsman, modern, and traditional.

A Behr survey reveals 84% of Americans are open to repainting their exteriors, suggesting significant interest in expert advice. Erica Woelfel, Behr’s vice president of color, notes the collection is designed to make color selection easier by featuring on-trend, coordinated options.

Trends are leaning towards natural tones, alongside bold colors like yellow and teal, blending timeless elegance with modern flair. Homes are moving from minimalism to personalized designs, reflecting a deeper connection to nature. Popular darker shades include black, charcoal gray, and dark blue, often paired with lighter accents.

For an exterior refresh, the Curb Appeal Collection offers ideas ranging from full renovations to smaller updates such as door or trim painting, celebrating dynamic and warm palettes that retain timelessness. Woelfel reminds homeowners of the general recommendation to repaint every five to seven years, though this depends on paint type and environmental conditions.
