Egg Recall Issued After Widespread Salmonella Outbreak

Urgently check your fridge if you’ve purchased eggs lately. Following an alarming salmonella outbreak, the FDA has issued a recall for eggs produced by Country Eggs, LLC, based in Lucerne Valley, California. This outbreak has sickened 92 individuals after they consumed large brown cage-free eggs branded as “Sunshine Yolks” sold in stores and to food service companies in California and Nevada.

The affected cartons from grocery stores carry specific brand names, sell-by dates, and codes. It is crucial that anyone possessing these eggs does not consume them. Instead, dispose of them safely or return them to the place of purchase for a refund. Questions about this recall can be directed to Country Eggs at 800-722-3447, Monday through Friday, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. PST, or via email at INFO@countryeggsllc.com.

Salmonella is a bacterium known to cause severe infections and can be life-threatening, particularly for young children, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems. Symptoms include fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. In severe instances, salmonella can enter the bloodstream and lead to more critical health issues such as endocarditis, arterial infections, or arthritis.
